Antioxidants

Antioxidants, we have heard so much about them and that is good, because if we do not include in our daily diet enough of this we can be at risk of developing some kind of cronic inflamatory condition that can end up in cancer, we find the best proanthocyanidins antioxidants in
cocoa or chocolate
apples
peanuts
grape seed capsules
bark of pines
whole grapes
almonds
bluebarries and cranberries.
proanthocyanidins help stabilize collagen and elastin, this two specially will help in the prevention of premature or sick aging.
We find Antioxidants in other Herbs as Ginkgo Biloba, Green Tea, Milk Thisle, Bilberry and Tumeric.
Vitamins as Vitamin E, Beta carotene, Vitamin A, Lutein, B2 Vitamins even better if you get complex B, wich includes B6 and B12 too for our nervs, Cysteine and Co Enzyme Q10 also is a powerfull Antioxidant.
To this list we most include the proper amount of Manganese, Copper, Selenium and Zinc.
Remember that if we eat colorfull meals fruits and vegetables, greens, reds, yellow, orange, it is easy to get the needed intake of this but just to be sure myself I try to add this supplements at least two to tree days a week when I know I did not make time to get the rigth foods or enogh vegetables in our diet.
Something we must know about vitamins and how to be carefull, specially there is some vitamins that we cannot abuse of them because they are liposoluble, that means that the mechanism that our body uses is to disolve them in to the fat, and not into the water as the hidrosolubles.

There is two kinds of vitamins
hidro soluble and the lipo soluble (Fat Soluble or water soluble.)
The most of the letters are hidrosolubles....
the hidrosoluble vitamins went out of the body with the urine,
the liposolubles remain in the fat of the body and liver for a little longer time.
Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin which is derived from two sources: preformed retinoids and provitamin carotenoids. Retinoids such as retinal, retinal, and retinoic acid are found in animal sources like liver, kidney, eggs, and dairy produce. Carotenoids like beta-carotene (which has the highest vitamin A activity) are found in plants such as dark or yellow vegetables and carrots.
Thiamin (also spelled "thiamine") is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin
the water-soluble factor from vitamin B2 and named it vitamin B6.
Vitamin B12 is an essential water soluble vitamin that is commonly found in a variety of foods such as fish, shellfish, meats, and dairy products. Vitamin B12 is frequently used in combination with other B vitamins in a vitamin B complex formulation
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin which is necessary in the body to form collagen in bones, cartilage, muscle, and blood vessels, and aids in the absorption of iron. Dietary sources of vitamin C include fruits and vegetables, particularly citrus fruits such as oranges
Vitamin D is found in numerous dietary sources such as fish, eggs, fortified milk, and cod liver oil. The sun is also a significant contributor to our daily production of vitamin D, and as little as 10 minutes of exposure is thought to be enough to prevent deficiencies. The term "vitamin D" refers to several different forms of this vitamin. Two forms are important in humans: ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Vitamin D2 is synthesized by plants. Vitamin D3 is synthesized by humans in the skin when it is exposed to ultraviolet-B (UVB) rays from sunlight or the diet.
The major biologic function of vitamin D is to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium, helping to form and maintain strong bones. Recently, research also suggests vitamin D may provide protection from osteoporosis, hypertension, cancer, and several autoimmune diseases.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin with antioxidant properties
Forms of vitamin K:
"Vitamin K" refers to a group of chemically similar fat-soluble compounds called naphthoquinones. Vitamin K1 (phytonadione) is the natural form of vitamin K, which is found in plants, and provides the primary source of vitamin K to humans through dietary consumption. Vitamin K2 compounds (menaquinones) are made by bacteria in the human gut, and provide a smaller amount of the human vitamin K requirement. Vitamin K1 is commercially manufactured for medicinal use under several brand names (Phylloquinone, Phytonadione, AquaMEPHYTON, Mephyton, Konakion). A water-soluble preparation is available for adults only as vitamin K3 (menadione).

And we should thank the kids for allowing you to put down such wonderful information.

Noticed you gave natural and artificial sources. In the case of anti-oxidants, is it better to stick with artificials since it always seems more convenient to put your hands on those?

Hi Jollyjo thank you for taking the time on reading and visit..
In my personal experience I do use artificial, in the case of grape seed capsules it is recomendable to use the supplements because you sill need to eat a huge amount of grapes to get the necessary intake of grape seed in your body, remember some things are food but sometimes or allways your food should be your medicine and when someone has a concern about beeing at risk of get cancer should try the supplements just to reinforce this food medicine for the body.
In the case of vitamins if one has the time to make sure you are getting everything in your diet with the food we cook, then there is not need of supplements, but there is a lot of people out there that don't have time to do this, because they live working every single second of the day, and then is when it comes on handy knowing what supplements are the right for you depending on the needs your body has, Usually when you are over stressed with work you tend to loose a lot of vitamins or your body doesn't even absorbe it, because of the state of strees is in, so we need to put a little more with a supplement in this case of B Vitamins all of them and also use others methods of natural healing as Auriculotherapy wich is ear acupunture there is a point called Point Cero wich is specialiced in make our body absorbe propely all the nutrients that we put in our mouth and stomach, so there is so many tricks and things to learn we need to find out all those so we can help our bodies and others to be our own doctors when is possible, and going to our regular doctor to get the right exams when needed, but don't belive everything that they say, because maybe that can be the absolute truth for them, but not for you, so I hope we all can find the right balance and find what is best for us, that takes time but once you figure out your life will be much more healty and happy as you take control of your own healt :) Have a wonderfull day!
