Parathyroid glands producing to much PTH, Hypercalcemia and Kidney Stones.

Primary Hyper-parathyroid causes calcium Kidney Stones. My sweet Mom just underwent a Parathyroidectomy procedure of one single adenoma of one parathyroid gland which was 2000mg (2grams) instead of the regular size of a parathyroid gland which is 30-60 milligrams! (note: we have 4 parathyroid glands two in each side of our thyroid gland they are tiny like a grain of rice in normal size) I think is very important to share this info because the primary cause of concern and how my sister Doctor found this out, is because my Mom had chronic kidney stone formation, she had gone under surgery 3 times in the past 10 years to remove calcium kidney stones! It is not only the pain and suffering but the dangers of going so many times into surgery and the damage that this sickness causes. As I talk before about the parathyroid gland and its relation with the amount of calcium in blood, this glands job is to regulate the calcium in blood, this glands release PTH Paratohormon that gives the signal to our body to release calcium from the bones “into” blood stream, causing a condition known as Hypercalcemia meaning elevated calcium in blood, which causes the individuals to feel, tired, depresses, anxious, have muscle weakness, fatigue, aches, pains in bones and joints, nausea, constipation confusion or impaired thinking and memory loss, oliguria, need to urinate often. They may have trouble sleeping but have a feeling of wanting to sleep more and one of the worst is the kidney stones formations, leading to renal failure if left untreated. Primary Hyperparathyroidism is specifically when you are talking about only 1 of the 4 parathyroid glands is affected and is over productive adenoma. Is benign and now there is several minimal invasive techniques that can be done in a matter of 30 minutes like a video assisted or endoscopic Parathyroidectomy procedure. My Mom is getting better and we are praying that after this surgery, her kidney function can be restored little by little at least the one kidney she has left. If you or someone you know suffers from kidney stones let them know that it may be a glandular problem and ask their doctors to make test to find out if their levels of PTH or Calcium are above the normal levels.

Spine Health.

Our spine has three curvatures inward in the n neck and little bit outward in the upper back and once more inward in our lower back, this nature curvature of our spine must be supported correctly in order to maintain a good posture and a healthy back. Our spine vertebras have the job of give support and structure to our upper body and also to protect our spinal cord. As you can see our back is not straight and when sitting we should allow our body to sit comfortably in a position that our spine has its natural position. Many times when we are tired we just drop ourselves in the couch in a weird position or fall sleep at night after a busy day in the wrong position and what is worst, without relaxing our muscles before fall asleep. With time as we get older we learn how important it is to maintain our back healthy, one important step to help your back is to use an ergonomic chair that supports your lower back and allows your feet to rest flat on the floor. A recliner with arm rest and footrest is great because you let your body rest in the correct position but also let the pressure be evenly all over your back and body, also good blood circulation. Eating right is important make sure you have enough calcium intake and vitamin D, mainly from natural sources in foods. Don't forget that in order for your body to use the vitamin D you need to bathe in the SUN, vitamin D needs the solar light for your body to use it and start getting that Calcium in your bones! Also eat plenty of fermented food like yogurt and fermented cheese, sauerkraut and others, because Vitamin K2 is essential and only the good bacteria in these foods help convert vitamin K1 into vitamin K2, which brings calcium into the bone. Otherwise you can be taking Calcium supplements, vitamin D and nothing would help if you don't have Vitamin K in you.

Homeschooling Busy and Fun..

Life is as busy as can be, or at least I believe that, now. As the days go by and I look back, I see a trail of acts of love and sacrifice, the enjoyable and not so enjoyable kind of sacrifices, the one that gives without counting and loves without expecting reward, but the doing itself of the loved action. That may explain why my blog has been neglected, as today my life is filled with activities for my children's growth, education, development and all is geared to give them the resources, tools and skills to conquer their world the way they may dream, to reach the goals that are precious to them, to fight for what is right after they have learn and studied. I am thankful to God of giving me the opportunity to mold His clay and all the Glory is to God, I pray they may live in a way that honors God so that they can live a happy life. I am thankful also to my hubby who I love so much, who has been supportive and loving.
