NOPAL, Cactus Opuntia. Healing Super Food plus safe weight loss diet!

Nopal is another healing Super food.
Nopal Cactus (from the Nahuatl nopalli) is a delicious vegetable comes from what we know as Prickly Pears Opuntia that you may find all over Mexico and Texas, we recently moved to Texas and I was so happy to see that this cactus grows all over!
Let me tell you about nopales, for starters I know that is proven that nopales can regulate sugar levels in blood, so if you are diabetic this is a must have food in your diet, then is an anti-inflammatory food thanks to its amazing benefits to the digestive system is a natural laxative, but very gentle, contains huge amounts of vitamin C and E.

This amazing cactus has a huge amount of fiber, contains pectin, mucilage a gluey substance produced by all plants that is beneficial for your digestive system.

Nopal has been used as food since ancient times especially in Mexican cuisine dishes.

Nopal Health Benefits.

Constipation: Regulates digestive system.
Obesity: Eliminates fat by sending the brain a message of not being hungry. Also the fibers help with digestion.
Diabetes: Hypoglycemic, reduces the levels of sugar in blood in diabetics, regulates the levels, so if you have no unbalance then it will do nothing to your sugar levels, but this is also important in the process of losing weight because when you have the right levels of sugar in blood, your body stops sending signals of hunger to your brain. :)
Cholesterol: Is been proved that a diet with nopal will avoid that too much cholesterol gets attached to the arteries and veins. The amino acids, fiber and niacin that nopales have also regulate the levels of sugar in blood, metabolizes the fats and fatty acids reducing in this way cholesterol.
Nopal contains LDL ( lipoprotein of low density) this is why helps lowering the bad cholesterol, LDL removes from the liver all the excess cholesterol in your body, and what is best it doesn't touch the HDL (High Density Lipoprotein or good cholesterol).
Strengthens the walls of blood vessels because it has vitamin C and A.

Cancer: There have been some experiments where rats with cancerous tumors were given extracts of Opuntia maxima (which is in nopal), it was noticed that the tumors stop growing, it did not cure it, but it was able to stop the cancerous growth.

Antibiotic: Nopales like other cactus metabolizes crasulaceo acid of the plants which inhibits bacterial grow.
Eating nopales will help fight a bacterial infection and applying the nopal in an affected area of the skin will also help.
(However, you should always contact your physician especially if you don't see improvement) I would recommend all of these practices as PREVENTIVE MEDICINE, which means, do it even if you are not sick, that way your body will react positively strong against any infectious process.
